A Few Tips To Keep You Mentally and Physically Charged

With the holidays quickly approaching it is easy to get lost in the daily hustle of life. As I sit here sipping on my Pumpkin Spice coffee and smelling my Pumpkin Apple infused candles, I’m taking a moment to think things through and allow my mind a moment of clarity.

In the year 2016, it is not uncommon for women to juggle a full family, job and run a successful business. But what happens when you don’t take a moment out for you? Because we wear so many hats sometimes, it’s easy to take care of everyone else’s needs and allow ours to fall by the wayside. This can be damaging to our health as well as the mental, only because we don’t allow ourselves a moment to regroup. This got me to thinking. What are some things that I can do on a monthly or weekly basis to make sure that my needs are being met?

  1. Start your morning with prayer or meditation. Religion plays a huge part in my wellbeing and I’ve found that if I take a few moments to connect with God in the morning, then my day seems to go smoother. It doesn’t have to be hours, maybe 15-30 minutes every single day, but including this into your daily regimen sets the tone for your day.
  2. Make time to get your nails, hair and feet done. Listen these things may sound a little vain, but let’s be honest, when your hair, nails and feet are right you feel much better. Think about it. You can’t go to your appointments with your stuff tore up. When you step into any meeting you should command their attention, and the biggest way to do that is to have yourself on point. You’ll feel better and talk with confidence. It’s the smallest things that can make us feel like a million bucks. Whether you are rocking a weave or a fro, natural nails or acrylics make sure that they are neat and on point at all times.
  3. Make sure to buy yourself something every now and then. See me I’m a notebook junkie. I get excited every time I see a nice notebook and have to add it to the collection. Seriously I can spend about 20-30 minutes picking out a single notebook (been there done that) that’s just my thing. So when I’ve marked items off my to do list I reward myself with a new notebook when I come across one. It’s something small, but allows me to reward myself without having to splurge. Now if big trips, shoes, cloths are your thing, I say if you’ve made a goal and accomplished it, you should go for it, but DON’T OVER DO IT. It’s just like we tell our kids, get good grades in school or act right and I’ll reward you at the end of the week. Well the same concept works for us working/business women also.
  4. Lastly on the list is have a free day every now and then. I understand that we are trying to build empires and we are leaving our families with legacies. I get it, trust me I do, but every once in a while take a day to just do nothing. Now whether you want to line this up with a school day, so the kids won’t be there (my preference) or wait to the weekend, that is up to you, but whatever days you take make sure you are doing nothing business wise, but just relax. Catch up on a good book or watch a few movies. (Netflix or the Fire Stick is the best) Do you realize how refreshed you will feel just by doing this one thing? I’m telling you, there is nothing like some down time, to get you refreshed and ready to take on the world. Try it out.

What do you think? Easy enough huh? Try them out and let me know how they work for you.
